|Danny Ruiz, the owner and head instructor at Capitao Jiu-Jitsu and MMA, holds black belts in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo. He also holds a 2nd Black belt in Dantoryu JuJitsu. Danny believes that self-defense is Jiu-Jitsu's primary function, however, competition can aid in an individuals technical development in the martial art. He has competed in many tournaments such as Florida State , Pan Am's, and N.A.G.A. He had the honor of competing against world champions like Jeff Monson and Daniel Moreas. Danny presently fights Mixed Martial Arts and is one of the top welterweights in the state of Florida. Always looking to improve his game and knowledge Danny has trained with some of the best in the business such as Ricardo De la Riva, Ross Kellin, Din Thomas, Thiago Dominges, and many many more. He believes that martial arts like life is a journey not a destination and we never stop learning. After recently separating from active military duty, Danny can now focus on his passion of teaching and competing full time. In February 2011 Danny received his first degree BJJ Black Belt from Master Ricardo De la Riva and in April 2011 he became the Atlas Fights Welter Weight Champion.
